The Quad countries include India, Australia, Japan and America. “We believe this conference will demonstrate that democracy works and that these four countries, working together, will uphold the principle of an open and free Indo-Pacific,” Sullivan told reporters at a regular White House news conference. The national security adviser said Biden would also lay the foundation for a new and ambitious economic initiative in Tokyo. The ‘Indo-Pacific Economic Draft’ (IPEF) is being brought to deal with the new economic challenges.

Both the leaders are scheduled to attend the Quad Summit to be held in Japan on 24 May. No disclosure has been made from Japan regarding the agenda of the meeting.

In September 2021, there was a personal meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Joe Biden in the White House of America’s Rashtrapati Bhavan. PM Modi had reached Washington to participate in the Quad Countries Summit.
